RAF Long Service & Good Conduct MedalThe Royal Air Force Long Service Medal (EIIR) was issued in two versions, those awarded before 1954 and those issued after 1954. Pre 1954 Issue (BRITT: OMM) This is the version awarded from 1952 to 1953. Originally awarded for 18 years exemplary service the qualifying period was reduced to 15 years in 1977. The equivalent award for the other ranks for acts of valour in the air on operations against the enemy was the Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM)
