Antique Madonna Chalkware FigureBeautiful colors in this dreamy, early to mid 20th century antique chalkware figure of Mary. She is flat and unfinished at the back, which tells me she was likely made for a religious shadow box (I have a similar piece in my collection!) but evidently someone just draped her with a saint medal, put her out on a table or shelf, and called it a day. Refer to photos for size and condition: Very good with minimal signs of age.

The statue stands just under 14” tall & about 5” at the widest part of the base

I don’t believe this piece would have had glass originally

unglazed white bisque

This beautiful Victorian box is made from a whole pearl shell

but it may be possible to remove the box from the main frame & have glass cut for it

blindstamped & gilded bindings are my favorite books to collect

Condition is excellent overall with some dirt under the glass and some wear to the frame as shown

Presented in a later Victorian frame

with a wooden frame painted with a blush-toned metallic glaze and a pink mat that perfectly complements the pink tones of the heart
