Embera Tribe woven plate/basket parrot, toucan and butterfliesAfter traveling to the Darien Jungle of Panama I have a few exquisite hands made pieces that the women hand woven from palm leaves. The process is tedious. They start by collecting the palm leaves then while fresh, they peel them lengthwise into strands. They then let them dry on a clothes line. Then they make boiling pots of gathered leaves roots to dye the palm strands. Then let them dry. The creative process begins with each women as they weave
helping to alleviate stress and anxiety
