Old Pulteney 1974 | The Caithness Club 1980s
Description
Old Pulteney 1974 | The Caithness Club 1980sHighland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Distillery Bottling 75cl 56. 9% A very hard to find example of Old Pulteney distilled in 1974 and bottled at cask strength in the 1980s for the Caithness Club in Wick. A real rarity and a terrific old school, coastal highland dram. Full of sea air, citrus, delicate waxiness and farmy notes. A powerful dram that is both a real pleasure to drink and a great find.
A great example of a single cask
A single cask Glen Grant 1979 30-year-old bottled without colouring or chill filtration by Douglas Laing to mark their 60th Anniversary back in 2009
under their old & rare range
There were many great whiskies in this series at the time
Arguably still one of the top three Macallans ever bottled - yes including the Laliques and Fine & Rares - this is still seen as a benchmark whisky not only for this distillery but for all Speyside whisky
Utterly delicious stuff
Bottled by: Highland Distillers 70cl / 40%
sherry driven Macallans
A real show stopper
These 12yo OBs from the early nineties were thicker and oilier than the current examples with more menthol and metallic qualities
this bottle is now extremely difficult to get hold of
