Turkana Honey Pot 11
Description
Turkana Honey Pot 11This beautiful Turkana honey pot is part of our special collection which took 8 years to curate. Each container is hand carved from indigenous wood with great skill by the pastoral Turkana people of Kenya and finished with goatskin leather details. Due to their nomadic lifestyle the Turkana people are skilled in creating functional pieces that are easy to transport from materials readily found in their harsh desert environment. The design of the
vintage wooden bowls from global communities are increasingly rare to curate and would have been used to prepare and serve food or used for storage for many years
Hand carved from a single piece of wood coming from the Nyangatom people of the Omo Valley in Ethiopia
stones or beads
so no two stools are identical
We love the patina that each headrest has and the stunning shine that the wood has taken on as a result of years of use
Please note that this design is one a kind
the larger the platter the more significant the occasion
named after the trees she preferred to climb
cowrie shells and Manilla string
The print is complemented by a white oak wood frame
As the mortars have been exposed to elements and been used daily
Spears serve several functions in African tribal life and well-forged spears are highly desirable
