Description

Hornby R30409 Manchester Ship Canal - Peckett W4 'Jaffa'History from Hornby's website: Built in 1897 as Peckett Works No. 655, Jaffa was delivered new to the Manchester Ship Canal Company. This sturdy W4 0 4 0 saddle tank was employed on heavy shunting duties along the docks, later being renumbered as No. 12 around the outbreak of the First World War. After three decades of service, Jaffa was finally sold in 1927, leaving behind a legacy typical of Pecketts hard working industrial locomotives.
