Pōhutukawa StoolVeronique Desmet is a Belgian artist currently living in New Zealand. These pieces are made of mature phutukawa. The wood was collected by the artist from the property she was living on. Each part of the stool has been burned separately in an open fire, and then assembled. A strong relationship with nature is fundamental to the artist creative process. Her working rhythm, materials, quality of finish, and place for creation are all linked with nature.
