The Iraq Reconstruction Service Medal was instituted January 2007 and awarded for 40 days continuous service or aggregate service of 40 days in a calendar year for a minimum of 48 hours

522 Victory medals were awarded and this gives us an idea of the scale of the war which had just been fought

Subsequent awards are denoted by the adding of a bar for up to 4 awards

It is at the same level as the Queen̥s Gallantry Medal

Instituted in 2015 in recognition of service by civilian and military personnel involved in the response to the Ebola crisis in West Africa

It was also decided to add a fixed suspension bar bearing the text "Regular Army" or the name of a dominion country: Australia

to escaped prisoners of war rejoining the armed forces

but not to wear the medal
