Tiny French Swan
Description
Tiny French SwanThe Story: I'm always amazed by artists who can convey grace and movement on such a small scale. This tiny swan was originally a French tie pin. I found it in a shop in Paris, and when I pointed to it in the case, the woman behind the counter told me I didn't want it, because the pin needed repair and it wasn't worth anyone's time to repair such a tiny thing. I disagreed. Here she in is her new form, as a dainty and delicate charm. The Details: Rose
hand etched details
I could get lost in the craftsmanship of these- the riveted hinges
to remind me that I was capable of finding my way through uncharted territory
Pearls are graduated in size to a cluster in the middle
twisted wire forms a rope that winds around the anchor
Geometric and foliate designs to front of locket
Condition: Good antique condition
Seed pearls are well-matched with a silvery hue
It made more sense to me as a necklace
A few dings to the back of the silver settings (likely remnants of button fastenings that were removed when the ear wires were attached)
Sputnik jewelry was all the rage in the late 50s and early 60s
because the pin needed repair and it wasn't worth anyone's time to repair such a tiny thing
