I found it in a shop in Paris, and when I pointed to it in the case, the woman behind the counter told me I didn't want it, because the pin needed repair and it wasn't worth anyone's time to repair such a tiny thing. Pearls are graduated in size to a cluster in the middle

Seed pearls are well-matched with a silvery hue

It made more sense to me as a necklace

A few dings to the back of the silver settings (likely remnants of button fastenings that were removed when the ear wires were attached)
