Vintage Black Agate Snuff Bottle with with EyesThis is an unique black agate bottle. The carver was very ingenious to select a rock in the right proportions to be a snuff bottle and carved it making use of the parallel bands of white to be positioned at both sides. The end result is the white bands appeared to be "eyes." In my years of collecting, it is the only one of its kind. I find it to be very special. The bottle is small and it feels good to hold in my hands. It is of a flattened globular

It is hard to see but the elongated body is fluted

This is an unusual form of water dropper done in pure white porcelain and decorated in leaves and vines in varying shades of underglaze blue

The oval foot ring encircled a flat bottom

Condition:  in good condition except for small flaking of the glaze

The artist carver cleverly made use of the natural form of the root and he did the carving using the natural twists and turns of the root materials
